Accessibility
Everyone should be able to use this site.
Accessibility is part of how we love our neighbors, not a feature we add later. Here's what we've done and how to reach us when something falls short.
Our commitment
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We design and test for keyboard use, screen readers, magnification up to 200%, reduced motion and strong color contrast, and we review new pages against those standards before they go live.
What that looks like here
- Clear headings, landmarks and a skip link on every page.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Text and background colors meet or exceed contrast requirements.
- Captions on videos and transcripts for sermons as they are published.
- Alternative text on images; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms with proper labels and clear, announced error messages.
- Animation kept to a minimum and disabled when you ask your device to reduce motion.
At our gatherings
Our building has step-free entry, accessible restrooms and reserved seating. Large-print materials and hearing assistance are available on request. If you need anything to make a visit easier, tell us ahead of time on the Plan Your Visit page or just ask anyone on the welcome team.
Tell us when something isn’t working
If you hit a barrier anywhere on this site, we want to know and we’ll fix it. Email hello@steamtownchurch.org with “Accessibility” in the subject, call (570) 555-0100, or use the contact form. Please tell us the page and what happened. We aim to respond within five business days.
