About Steamtown
Ordinary people, following Jesus, loving a city.
A church serving Scranton and Northeast Pennsylvania.
Our story
Named for the city we love
Steamtown Church began the way most good things in Scranton do: around a kitchen table. A few families started meeting to read the Bible, pray and eat together, and they kept inviting friends. The living room filled, then a rented hall, then a building.
The name is a nod to the rail yards that built this city and the people who worked them. We’re a church for folks who work hard, love their neighbors and want a faith that holds up on a Tuesday, not just a Sunday.
Today we gather on Sundays in downtown Scranton and scatter across Northeast Pennsylvania the rest of the week in house churches, serving teams and friendships. We’re far from finished, and we’d love for you to be part of what comes next.
What we care about
Jesus at the center
Not a brand, a program or a personality. Everything we do points back to him.
Scranton is home
We love this city as it is, and we're committed to its good: schools, streets, neighbors, all of it.
Tables over rows
Real growth happens in homes and around meals. Sundays gather us; groups grow us.
Everyone has a part
Nobody sits on the sidelines here. There is a place for your gifts, even if you're still discovering them.
